What does it cost?
Membership in the Zion HealthShare community is much more affordable than health insurance. Each member makes a monthly contribution to the community instead of paying an insurance premium. This amount depends on different factors like the age of the primary member, their chosen IUA, and their household structure.
For example, in 2026 a single individual who is 21 years old and selects a $2,500 IUA would contribute $161/month. A 45 year old who is married with children and selects the $5,000 IUA would contribute $504/month. Click here for our membership pricing tool and see what your monthly contribution could be.
What is an IUA?
The Initial Unshareable Amount, or IUA, is the amount a member must pay before expenses related to a medical need become eligible for sharing. Household memberships will not be responsible for more than three IUAs in a rolling 12-month period.

What expenses are eligible for sharing?
Not every medical expense is eligible for sharing with the community. For a comprehensive list of expenses that are eligible and ineligible for sharing, please see our Member Guidelines.
Decisions for sharing eligibility are made to benefit all members by keeping monthly contributions low and sharing in medical expenses based on our Principles of Membership and Member Guidelines. Members can access sharing for eligible medical expenses including preventive services, 24/7 virtual care with no consultation fees, and discounted prescriptions.

What about pre-membership medical conditions?
Members with certain pre-membership medical conditions can still join the Zion HealthShare community. Medical expenses related to that condition will not be eligible for sharing in the first year of membership. After this waiting period, the amount eligible for sharing increases with each year of membership, capping at $125,000 after the third year of membership.
A pre-membership medical condition is anything where a member has experienced one or more of the following in the previous 24 months prior to membership start date: been examined, diagnosed, taken medication, had symptoms, a personal history of or known increased risk of conditions that may arise or worsen in pregnancy, or received medical treatment.

When can I join?
There is no open enrollment period to join Zion HealthShare. Members are free to enroll at any time.
We offer this year round enrollment option because we recognize the restrictive limitations of open enrollment windows being difficult to manage. You can make your decision when your finances and circumstances align, not an arbitrary date on a calendar.

Are there provider networks?
Zion HealthShare does not have a network of providers that members are required to use for their medical care. Members can choose any licensed doctor, specialist, or hospital anywhere in the U.S. without restriction.
This no network model reduces hassles and supports personalized healthcare with freedom and flexibility. With Zion HealthShare you choose based on expertise, location, or recommendations, not a network list.
