As a member of the Zion HealthShare community, you belong to a group of like-minded individuals who believe in the mission of medical cost sharing. Your monthly contributions create a generous pool of funds that allows for the sharing of medical expenses among members. However, sometimes certain medical events may not qualify for sharing under the Pautas de Membresía. This is where the Additional Giving Fund comes into play, offering a lifeline for critical situations that fall outside the scope of regular sharing.
Understanding the Additional Giving Fund
The Additional Giving Fund assists members with medical expenses that are not typically eligible for sharing. The Zion HealthShare community members fund it through their generous contributions, exceeding their monthly contributions. Zion HealthShare itself also contributes monthly to bolster up the fund. 100% of Additional Giving contributions are placed in the Additional Giving fund, which is used solely to assist members who have a sharing request that would not normally qualify for sharing.
Donating to the Additional Giving Fund
Regardless of membership status, anyone can contribute to the Additional Giving Fund. Donations to this fund are tax deductible, as Zion HealthShare is a non-profit organization. Individuals and organizations are eligible to make Additional Giving donations.
Secure Handling of Funds
Zion HealthShare takes the utmost care in ensuring that the Additional Giving Fund is managed with transparency and integrity. Approximately 90% of regular monthly member contributions go directly to eligible medical expenses outlined in the Pautas de Membresía. Zion HealthShare reserves all contributions to Additional Giving for assisting members with medical expenses that are not typically eligible for sharing. No operational costs are deducted from the Additional Giving Fund guaranteeing that every donated penny directly benefits those in need.
Eligibility for Additional Giving
The Additional Giving Committee oversees the decision-making process regarding fund disbursement, carefully considering factors such as the severity of the medical need. As long as you are a member in good standing and have been a member for at least three months, you can apply for assistance through Additional Giving.
Applying for Assistance through the Additional Giving Fund
If you face a medical expense not eligible for sharing, you can apply for assistance through the Additional Giving Fund. Before applying, it is essential to review the Member Guidelines to verify the eligibility of your request. If you are unsure if you could qualify for Additional Giving, our Member Support team is available to assist you. Once you have confirmed that the medical need qualifies for Additional Giving, you can submit a sharing request online. The Additional Giving Committee will review your application promptly and inform you of their determination.
