Zion HealthShare is a solution for people seeking an alternative approach to traditional insurance. Rooted in community, compassion, and shared responsibility principles, Zion HealthShare isn’t just about medical cost-sharing—it’s about fostering a sense of belonging and support among its members. In this blog post, we delve into the stories of individuals who have found solace, healing, and genuine connection through their experiences with Zion HealthShare.
Extended Treatment
Dave S. shares his medical story and how Zion HealthShare’s Extended Care team supported him throughout his journey.
“On Saturday evening, June 17th, I suffered a stroke. It came as quite a shock. I eat healthy, exercise regularly, and had just been to the doctor for my physical exam, where I was told to ‘keep doing what you’re doing.’ Despite this encouragement, I was rushed to the hospital with what proved to be a blood clot in the right side of my brain. After administering a drug the doctors described as ‘a blood thinner on steroids,’ they sent me by helicopter to another hospital specializing in neurological issues.
As I lay on my back in the helicopter, watching the lights below, I thought to myself, ‘how am I going to pay for all of this?’ Thankfully, I’m a member of Zion HealthShare. Zion HealthShare has proved to be incredible every step of the way. My oldest daughter quickly communicated with Zion HealthShare and connected with one of their extended care representatives, Rachel.
Zion HealthShare was There
Rachel was responsive to her questions and always kind and thoughtful during their conversations. Zion HealthShare shared not only the helicopter ride, and the blood thinner on steroids, but other expenses related to my hospital stay, as well as my time in the rehabilitation hospital.
The staff at the rehabilitation hospital was amazed at how gracious Zion HealthShare was in covering my time there. Many of them asked for information about Zion HealthShare. They were used to other companies rushing people out the door before they had a chance to improve. Because Zion HealthShare allowed for such a lengthy stay in rehab, I have made amazing progress.
When I Had the Stroke…
The entire left side of my body was dead. I had double vision, could not swallow properly, and the left side of my face drooped down significantly. Now I can see clearly, swallow safely, and my face is almost back to normal. I am walking again and regaining the use of my left arm and left hand.
Zion HealthShare has continued to support me through my outpatient therapy, as I continue to work to regain function. I am now walking with a cane 4/10 of a mile each way to a pool and able to swim as well. I cannot say enough good things about Zion HealthShare. With all the other challenges that come with the stroke, especially considering my wife has been in a wheelchair for 20 years with multiple sclerosis, it has been so nice to know that the Zion HealthShare community has my back.
My oldest daughter gave birth recently, so I took over communicating with Zion HealthShare about my needs a few weeks ago. My interactions with their team, especially Rachel, have been an absolute delight. I will be forever grateful to Zion HealthShare for how they stood and continue to stand with me and my family during such a challenging season.”
Dave’s story serves as a testament to the power of community in times of adversity, and how the Zion HealthShare team can support you through your medical experiences.
Emergency Room Visits
Many members have shared their experiences with Zion HealthShare as they experienced emergency room visits.
“Zion HealthShare is fantastic! A member of my family had to have emergency surgery last year. We paid $1000 and the community paid every other cent of the bill. I was able to talk to the same person every time I called which was helpful. All the bills were paid within a day or two of receiving them. I cannot speak highly enough of this company.”
“We are new to medical cost sharing. I would love to share the wonderful experience I’ve had recently. Not long after my husband and I joined, I had a medical emergency. I was to be seen in the ER with many tests done. Zion HealthShare has made this process so easy and has put my fears at ease. After paying our IUA, Zion HealthShare paid all my incoming medical bills related to this incident in a timely manner and anytime I had any questions, no matter who answered the phone, has been extremely helpful and has made this entire process easy! I would highly recommend becoming a member and so happy we did!”

Maternity & NICU Stay
Sarah T. shares her maternity experience followed by a one-month NICU stay for her new baby.
“I have a deep appreciation for Zion HealthShare. I’ve been a member for several years and have never faced denial for any of my sharing requests. Earlier this year, what started as a typical pregnancy turned into an extensive emergency c-section, followed by a one-month NICU stay for my daughter. Zion HealthShare remained steadfast and shared our substantial bill, which was, to put it mildly, quite significant. When I recently had another medical requirement, I was concerned given the significant expenses they had already shared for me this year. However, Zion HealthShare once again came through for us. It’s truly a relief and stress reducer to know that Zion HealthShare has our back.”
Sarah’s Story
Sarah’s story reminds us how vital the maternity and newborn experience is to our health and wellbeing. As a Zion HealthShare community member, Sarah did not have to go through this experience alone, and she could focus on her recovery and her new daughter!
